Top 71 Prep Prospects for 2015 MLB Draft

#2 prospect SS Brendan Rodgers

Kiley just ranked 143 prep seniors for the 2014 class a few days ago but a rankings machine can't stop there, so today he rolls out exactly half as many names for the 2015 class, having seen much of this group in the past few weeks.

I hesitated to call my previous list from this class a ranking, despite seeing over 80% of those players in the past few months before writing it, because there still wasn't a ton of data on the class. After seeing the majority of this list once again in Jupiter, there's more data and I'm re-ranking the class, so I guess these have to be rankings now. I have about 150 names for the class on my spreadsheet and was trying to decide how deep to go, with exactly half of the 142-deep list for the 2014 class ending up as a logical end to this one. As always, this list can and will change a lot before the 2015 class and as I've mentioned before, I like to skew towards bats at the top of these lists for a number of reasons. I've got about 20 names for the 2016 class as solid follows, but two arms separated themselves in this class and are worth noting here. Both stood out in Jupiter, so click on their names to see video and my thoughts from the recent tournament. Bergner is old for the 2016 class (will turn 17 next spring) and would fit well in the 2015 class age-wise, ranking somewhere with the arms in the 11-18 range on that list.

Molina is young for the 2016 class, only recently turning 15, which made scouts in Jupiter wonder how much he would get as a July 2nd eligible arm (well into the seven figures), though he would miss being eligible for the upcoming period (were he not a U.S. citizen) by a few months. As you can see from the 2015 list, I hesitate to rank pitchers near the top of lists (for a number of reasons), but Molina would be my top pitcher on that list as well, making him a bonafide phenom.
