Angels MiLB Players & Pitcher of the Month

Dennis Raben and Jonah Wesely have been named Angels Minor League Player and Pitcher for the month of July 2014, as voted on by staff.

Raben had a .350./.383/.620 slash over July, helped by his monthly farm system leading seven home runs, as well as six doubles.

Raben accounted for a total of 38 runs over the month with 25 runs batted in and 13 runs scored batting mostly from the cleanup slot.

Raben began the month with a 17-game hit streak, and continued his excellence with hits in 23 of his 25 games. In the 13th game of his streak, he crushed a walkoff home run well over 450 feet. He also had nine multi-hit games.

Raben remained defensively sound over July as well with just one error.

Raben raised his season slash from .217/.309/.429 to .264/.334/.504 from the last day of June to the last day of July.

Angels Minor League Pitcher of the Month : Jonah Wesely

Jonah Wesely, Rookie Ball Orem, Right-Handed Pitcher

Wesely did not allow a run in his 14 innings of relief over July, while allowing just nine base runners total, helping him with both his 0.00 ERA and 0.64 WHIP.

Wesely pounded the strike zone in his new long relief role in the bullpen, walking just three batters over the month, and striking out 18, helping give him 1.92 walks per nine innings, and 11.57 strikeouts per nine.

Wesely held batters to a .128 batting average, and went three innings in relief four times over July, highlighted by a performance in the middle of the month where he allowed one hit in three innings while striking out five. Recommended Stories
