Spring Traing Game Recap - 3/5/04

Posted Mar 5, 2004

The Angels had a great day on the field in many ways. For starters, Guerrero and Guillen the two new outfielders both were 2 for 2 at the plate. Jeff Davanon had a great day as well going two for two before completing the Angels 3 run rally in the bottom of the eighth with a RBI sacrifice fly that sealed the 8 to 7 win for the Angels.

The big story for the minor league side was the hitting of Jeff Mathis who went 2 for 2 with a solo home run during the Angels 3 run rally and Barry Wesson who also had a 2 for 2 day at the plate. On the Pitching side, John Lackey had a decent day allowing one run in two innings with 3 K's. Ben Weber and K-Rod followed with decent innings before Kevin Gregg allowed 2 runs in two innings of work and then Chris Bootcheck picking up the win despite having a supbar day allowing 3 runs in two innings of work. The pitching picked up in the ninth when Scott Dunn recorded his first save of the spring with a 1 hit two strikeout ninth inning.
