Angels sign Jordan Walden
Jordan Walden

Posted May 30, 2007

The Angels have agreed to terms with right-hander Jordan Walden on a $1 million bonus, first reported by Jim Callis of Baseball America.

A 12th-round pick by the Angels in the 2006 MLB Draft, Walden, 6-foot-5, went 9-2 with a 1.85 ERA for Grayson County Junior College. In 58.1 innings he allowed 45 hits, walked 18 and struck out 83.

Walden's fastball topped out at 97 MPH and compliments it with a solid slider and developing changeup.

Originally slated to go to the University of Texas, Walden chose to go the JuCo route in the last year of the draft-and-follow eligibility.

The Angels had until 9 PM PDT on Wednesday to ink Walden to a deal or he would have re-entered the 2007 draft.
