Kernels send three to disabled list

Three players with the Cedar Rapids Kernels have been placed on the DL and that three players will arrive today to take their place on the roster.

Cathcer Jonathan Hodach, infielder Ryan Mount and right-hander Aaron Cook have been placed on the DL. Hodach was placed on the DL with a mild concussion and ankle sprain; Mount was placed on the DL with a strained quad muscle; and Cook was placed on the DL with an undisclosed injury.

Left-hander Kelly Shearer joins the Kernels from extended spring training. Shearer was on the 2006 Kernels team and posted a 1-5 record and 5.02 ERA in 9 games.

Infielder Tadd Brewer joins the Kernels from Orem. He was drafted by the Angels in the 17th round of the 2006 Free Agent Draft and posted a .285 BA in 56 games at Orem with one HR and 27 RBI.

Catcher Brian Walker was drafted by the Angels in the 29th round of the 2007 Free Agent Draft out of the University of Arkansas. He was playing at Orem and was batting .125 (1-8) in three games for the Owlz.

All three players are active and available for today’s noon game with Beloit.
