Biography:
Diaz had an up-and-down season in 2006. Literally. The righty from Venezuela pitched at every level from Arizona through the California League, particularly impressing in four starts for Rancho Cucamonga. A wiry pitcher with a live arm, Diaz the 20-year-old went 5-4 with a 3.79 ERA over 78.1 innings of work. Look for a strong year in 2007 as he gets a chance to work with one team for most of the year.
