Biography:
After one of the greatest seasons in the history of minor league baseball, expectations for Wood, a 2003 first-round pick, were high. He responded with a .276/.355/.552 line in Double-A Arkansas in 2006 before joining Team USA in Cuba at the end of the year. The righty was second in the Texas League with 42 doubles and fifth in homers, but still struck out nearly once every three at-bats.

Wood will open the 2007 season in Triple-A, likely making the transition to third base which people outside the organization have predicted for over a year. His home/road splits will be an important indicator to watch.
